Coming to law from a background in music, Wale has built a burgeoning music practice representing rising stars from across the globe, working with talented artists, songwriters and producers as well as independent management and record companies. With an approach that focuses exclusively on protecting his clients’ interests, he has developed a strong reputation for proactively supporting emerging artists in every aspect of their work and business, right from the start of their careers. Wale’s work in the music and entertainment industry is informed by his substantial experience in live events, branding and social media, having previously worked with social media influencers, digital start-ups, advertising agencies and leading online merchandise companies. Until recently, he served as a key advisor for multiple start-up businesses but in particular, he has been instrumental in driving and building the company “The Good Co” into a social media agency and digital platform with over 30 million followers worldwide. Wale is known for being a fierce negotiator, great networker, commercially aware and possessing real world insight to deal making.

A legal graduate from the University of Exeter. Awarded a First-class Honors Degree, and Dean’s Commendation for Exceptional Performance. Has since gone on to have an academic article published on Exeterlaw.org.

Currently within the Legal and Business Affairs team at Island Records. Responsibilities include: 

  • Revising and drafting various contractual agreements (video, license, creative, features),
  • Presenting key research, and the legal position based upon this,
  • Responding to claims whereby track ownership is disputed,
  • Investigating our rights position to grant synch and compilation requests.

Prior experience within the entertainment industry includes: 

  • EMI internship. 
  • Mentorship from a senior partner in Reed Smith’s Entertainment and Media industry group, via the firms Summer Insight Scheme.
  • Working alongside Sershall Management Limited.
