Digital Marketing: also called online marketing, is the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication. This includes not only email, social media, and web-based advertising, but also text and multimedia messages as a marketing channel.

Name: Matt Pilcher

Job: Founder and director of F That

Matt is the founder and director of London-based digital agency F That. F That produces digital content and has worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, BTS, Foo Fighters, Muse, The Rolling Stones amongst others. Matt has worked in the music industry for over 10 years in various roles across artist management, agencies and a record label.

Name: Olivia Hobbs

Job: Founder of Blackstar

Founded Blackstar in 2018 to bring quality service & support to the changing landscape of the industry. Blackstar has the honour of working with a wide range of big-hitting artists from legends like Outkast, Def Leppard & Rage Against the Machine through to, Rag N Bone Man, Charli XCX, The War On Drugs and Years & Years who have come through the company’s shipping container complex in Brixton for support from Blackstar’s all-star team. She has previously worked in senior marketing & digital roles in the major label sector for some of the biggest artists in the world, including favourites Nine Inch Nails, Kae Tempest & Haim, as well as cutting her teeth in artist & producer management which she has a continued passion for. Her role now oversees team members & projects internationally working across campaign management, social media, digital marketing & creative commissioning alongside continuing to manage, currently representing critically acclaimed Bristol-based visual noise outfit, Scalping, and Dewey. 

Name: Isabella Speight

Job: Digital Content Strategist

Isabella has worked in the digital space for six years starting out as a co-ordinator for the ex-Head of Marketing for Chanel, creating content for a luxury children’s website alongside running a lifestyle and beauty blog. This eventually led to moving across into the interior space under an ex-dragon and resulted in skipping towards the music industry. Working as a digital channel manager across various MUSIC TEAM // ULTIMATE SEMINAR 2020-2021 artists within many genres at a Digital agency for a few years, I then joined YM&U and following a year working in the Entertainment department, it has led to becoming a ‘Digital Content Strategist’ within Music. Also an obsessive reader and Animal Crossing Enthusiast. 

Quote: Whilst at my last year of school, I didn’t have any idea that my job existed within the music industry or any of the jobs that I’ve had for that matter. Therefore, I’d love to impart some of the bits and pieces I’ve picked up along the way and give back to those who are creative and aren’t sure just how possible their horizons are. I never had a mentor, but if I had one now, I’d be bombarding them with questions and asking for advice; I’m more than eager to be that person for somebody should they need and want it.
